My practice explores the preservation of the mundane, helping me make sense of the world around me. I examine fleeting moments by memorializing them in ceramic—a material known for its permanence—and recreating iconic imagery with found objects and fiber
I hope to immortalize the mundane moments through my work, highlighting the mediocrities (such as never placing higher than 7th place in middle school track events and consistently being a C+ student) in hopes of digesting my feelings and making people feel seen along the way. I use humor as a way of connecting with viewers, drawing them in while also celebrating the small but profound moments of life.
I use traditional craft techniques to bring a sense of familiarity to my work and embrace the ever-growing human desire to create. I continue to push narrative through ironic humor, making light of the everyday, all while being historically informed.
